061. twenty twelve

I am alive! I am alive! I just got back from Maldives not too long ago and I'm still sad that 2012 has ended. I literally wanted to cry when people were counting down to 2013. I was shouting "no no no, don't leave me... 2012." So here we are (still alive) in 2013 and I hope this year will be kind to me as well.

2012 was sooooooooooooo good to me (too good sometimes). So many things happened in 2012, good and bad, but mostly good, very good. I've managed to meet a lot of amazing people in 2012 and I'm so thankful to have them in my life now. I'll be going to make lists of things I think that were awesome last year and write about a lot of stuff that really made me think, feel and change in 2012. This is gonna be a long (pictureless) entry.

Why

Savage by PLASTICZOOMS

will always remind me of walking down the streets of Shibuya with 3 guys and getting all embarrassed as bystanders look at us like we're crazy singing so loudly at midnight.  Also, the way my friend says "Savage" really gave me  culture shock. They were asking me which song I liked best from their album and I said "Savage" and after a few times of repeating myself, I finally gave up and said "the song after KMKZ" and Sho exclaimed so loudly "SEH-VEH-GI!!!??" and in my mind I was "oh, so that's how they say Savage in Japan?" So he and Shinpei were singing to me that song to my ears (I'm standing in the middle of both of them and they actually placed their face next to mine and sang it so loudly in my ears, omg I'm not that deaf okay.) After that we were talking about The Faint and the both of them starting singing Danse Macabre so loudly and everyone was just staring at us like we belong to an insane asylum. Thanks guys.

You Make Me Feel... by Cobra Starship

I was standing in the front row for Cobra's set during Soundwave, I know that Gabe noticed that little sis and I were there the entire time because he kept looking our way (which made us feel uncomfortable). During their last song, "You Make Me Feel..." Gabe pointed me out in the crowded (he mouthed you make me feel and at the part of "good" he pointed to me), I thought he was pointing to the girl behind me, but little sis kept insisting it was me but I pointed to the girl behind me anyway and he stopped singing and shouted and laughed "yes you!" Pointing to me again and I got all embarrassed because everyone was staring at me and he completely stopped singing their song and laughed at my stupidness. I buried my face in my hands the entire time. SO EMBARRASSING. After their set, he came down to shake everyone's hands and I was like "no. I'm not going to shake this idiot's hand." Come on, I've known the guy for 5 years why would I want to shake his hand? -_- But he came back to me anyways and said " Yo Lyana! My Girllll...." After all these years, I'm still his girl, okay, thank you Gabriel Saporta.

Fourth Avenue Cafe by L'Arc-en-Ciel

No words can describe how happy I was when they performed this song during their 20th Anniversary concert, I've been listening to this song since I was 8 on Rurouni Kenshin ( I love that anime to hell and back, one of the best anime ever). It was one of the closing songs of the anime. When Hyde started singing this, little sis and I just went crazy and couldn't believe we were living our childhood dream. It was so good. L'Arc is so good live. I would definitely watch them again when I get the chance. The CDs don't do justice to Hyde's voice.

FUZZ by MUCC

The thing I love about MUCC is that they made me fell in love with them. I have a special place in my heart for bands that do that ( so far there are only 3). I went to their live barely knowing any songs but when Tatsuro played the Harmonica to FUZZ I was so amazed. I haven't seen anyone play the harmonica like that live, ever. They blew my mind with their performance for this song. I enjoyed myself so much at their show even though I was alone and they turned me into a fan immediately. Another band I would kill to watch all over again.

For the rest of the songs, it's either I've been listening to it on repeat or I've been obsessed with it for a certain period of time or till now. Everyone knows my 2 favorite bands are lynch. and THE NOVEMBERS. Prison Song by System of a Down was too good live not to put it in the list and recently, I've started falling in love with DIE ANTWOORD even if their music is out of the genre I normally listen to. Big Bang has definitely made me hate K-Pop a little less. I just feel that the band will go far in this industry. They're original and unique. Also, I really love GD.

For 9Goats, without them I wouldn't even have started a conversation or realized I had feelings for someone. We're both crazy over 9Goats Black Out, that's all I have to say.

Also last year, I bought too many books and magazines. Mostly couture fashion or illustrative books and I read Dazed & Confused and i-D (thanks Raine for introducing them to me) a whole lot.

The year started off from being in Tokyo in February, everything started from there. That trip was such a good trip because not only did I manage to meet and spend time with my boys, but I got to make another friend out of it, Raine. I never thought she would be one of my closest friends because we seemed to be so different back in college. Expect the unexpected, someone once told me and I guess now, I get what he was trying to tell me all those years ago.

During the February trip to Tokyo, I also got to go to Ghibli Museum, the Ukiyo-e Exhibition at Mori Museum of Art (Roppongi Hills), get to try Sukiyaki and parfait (SILKREAM)!, shopping in Shibuya and Harajuku with my boys and funny things happened (lol), finally know how to go around Harajuku properly (Thank you Taiyo), had Ramen in Odaiba, went to PZ's live which was fun as well. Except for maybe Yuta glomping me at first glance. I'm still in shock. He saw me and shouted "Hajimemashite!" and basically threw himself at me and hugged me and I got big shock because I thought Japanese don't hug or something like that (of course, it is perfectly normal in Australia but still). All in all, that trip was so fun because I stayed out till 1am almost everyday, normally I will be too scared to but since I had company this time around, I could enjoy more.

By the end of February, I was back home in Melbourne all ready to attend another round of Soundwave. Never ever beats being home, food, people, weather, everything. Also I was so happy to see my friend, Ally again! She's one of the nicest people in the world and met Gabe halfway somewhere. Was able to go to the Soundwave pre party at NEXT, thanks to Lost Prophets for the ride there! At Soundwave, I got to see Saves The Day, Kill Hannah, You Me At Six, The Cab, A Day To Remember, Four Year Strong, Chimera, Lost Prophets, Cobra Starship, Versaemerge, Tonight Alive, Cathedral, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot and System of a Down. Soundwave was fun as usual, so many bands but so little time! Any year is a good year when I get to see my babe, Gabe.

In April, finally got to see L'Arc-en-Ciel live, thanks to my uncle for free tickets and good seats. It was quite a difficult decision because I had to choose between them and Avenged Sevenfold but gave in to L'Arc anyways since I've seen A7X twice. L'Arc was amazing live like I already said earlier. So far, Hyde's voice is the best one I've heard after going to so many concerts and believe me, I've been to a lot.

Also, one of my favorite girls ever, Kiko Mizuhara used my artwork on her instagram account. I was so happy, no words can ever describe it, furthermore, she replied my tweet telling me she loves my work and to draw her more. It's one of the best compliments I could ever get from anyone and it's from her. I always draw her, even if some of my work doesn't look like it's her, it's really all her. She and so many other people made me believe in  myself and art again. Thank you, Kiko.

Tokyo again in May, it was still fun but maybe too soon that I went to Japan again? I kind of had no choice because I had to leave the country and air tickets were cheap during that time. Anyways, I managed to find the Moomin Cafe at Tokyo Dome, go to the One Piece exhibition and finally find the Gundam statue in Odaiba after searching 3 times. Venus Fort is still one of my favorite places to go to, especially because of Strange Love. Also meeting up with my friends was good too. I really enjoyed my time with him on the second day last in Tokyo. We went to the temple and had a long conversation at Starbucks. I find it funny how life throws things at you, especially out of nowhere. I know that we met randomly through Twitter and it just happened that I was going to Tokyo in February, that's where I decided to meet him and the band.

It seems so strange to me now that I used to have a crush on his friend but after meeting him that day, I felt more for him. I think he's the first person that I've slowly grown to feel for instead of my usual "love at first sight" I've always had for past relationships. It's strange that when he was playing with his hair, I just found him so cute and at the same time, interesting because we have a lot of similar interests and I never thought I would meet another person who was born somewhere else and hate where they're stuck in. So all in all, we felt the same way about a lot of things. I think he was more amazed by my taste of things, he seemed to be intrigued by my taste in music, it's as all over the place as his. It was nice finally talking to a guy who likes the same music as me. I've had it with indie boyfriends. So annoying. T_T Also, I want to thank him for showing me that looks aren't everything. I don't mean it in a rude way. It's just that I always fall for guys because of their looks first but for him, I really liked him for being him. So thank you Shinpei, for showing me that it's possible (for me) to like someone this way too.

In June, I was in Thailand soaking up the sun. Krabi is more beautiful than I would have ever imagined. It really changed my opinion on things and especially beaches. As you all know, I hate the sun and sand, and I'm totally not an outside, beach sort of person. But afer going to Krabi it made me change my opinion on my choice of travels. I can actually appreciate now and am more open to going to places like that.

My birthday month is in July. On little sis's birthday, we went to the Harry Potter exhibition and on mine, Universal Studios. It was a much better birthday than any other year's because well, maybe I didn't expect anything from anyone and I just put my trust in the person that I know would never hurt me, which is my sister. So I had fun on my 23rd birthday.

We visited dad in Jakarta to celebrate his birthday in August. I don't really like Jakarta per say, it's dirty, dangerous and has really bad traffic jams. I don't think I would ever want to go there again to be honest. It was nice to know what dad is exactly doing over there all these years though.

In October, I got to see MUCC! It was one of the best lives that I've been to. The thing I love about them is that they made me fall in love with them and in general, they are a good band. Their music ranges from dubstep, techno to heavy rock. It's really fun at their concert because you can enjoy so much and I thought I wouldn't be able to enjoy it because I was alone and hardly knew any songs but I did enjoy so much. They are one of my newest inspirations.

November was a good month because I finally moved back home! Like I already said, nothing beats being home. Not long after, I had to come back to Singapore because Dad won a free trip to Maldives and he wanted little sis and I to go, so I came back just for it. Little sis brought me to watch the Rurouni Kenshin live action movie because she knew how bummed I was to be back here. Spent Christmas here with the family and left for Maldives to celebrate the new year!

On the last day of the year, little sis and I were on a island in Maldives, riding a jetski and after that, swimming in the ocean plus cycling by water bicycle to a desserted island. Looking, observing fish and stingrays in our villa and had a nice gala dinner to end the year. We were at the pier counting down to 2013. I was such a nice way to end 2012.

I'm really happy about 2012 and I already have so many plans for 2013. I have a strong feeling that 2013 will be full of surprises and a whole lot of unexpected things. Hopefully, 2013 will be even kinder to me. I want to concentrate on my career this year and try to meet even more people. I know that all of my resolutions fall through for 2012, I have no resolutions in mind yet but I plan to leave things as they are.

Expect the unexepected.
